Mars Area School District offers daily breakfast and lunch in every school. The lunch price for the 2022-2023 School Year is $2.80 for elementary students (K-6). Breakfast is $1.00 for all elementary students. The a la carte milk price is 65 cents.  The lunch price is $3.00 for middle school and high school students and breakfast is $1.00 for these students.

The District participates in the National School Lunch Program, which offers discounted or free meals to eligible families. Applications for the program are available online at and at All children approved for free or reduced-price meals the previous year are automatically eligible for the first 30 days of the next school year. (Note: Mars Area High School and Mars Area Middle School do not participate in the National School Lunch Program; however, eligible students in Grades 7-12 may still apply for discounted or free meals. Meal Modification Requests

Cafeteria Notices
À La Carte Items Cannot Be Charged — All Mars Area School District parents are advised that à la carte items may not be charged to a student’s school meal account if the account has a negative balance. Students may pay for à la carte items with cash if their meal account has a positive balance or by or using a student meal account with a positive balance. The District will always provide a student with a school meal regardless of his/her ability to pay. Questions may directed to the individual school cafeteria.

USDA Summer Food Service Program

The USDA Summer Food Service Program offers free meals for all children and teens, ages 18 and younger, at many locations throughout the community during the summer months while school is not in session.
Schools and/or families may use any of the following methods to locate sites that serve free meals to children during the summer:
