Mars Area School Board voted 7-0 to adopt Mars Area School District’s 2019-2020 School Calendar.

Note: Board members Rita Dorsch and Bonnie Weaver were absent. 

The calendar sets the first day of school on Monday, Sept. 9. The delayed start date is planned to accommodate renovations at Mars Area Middle School, the majority of which will take place during the summer months.

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held for Grades K-12 on Monday, Nov. 11 (In-Service Day), and for Grades K-6 on Tuesday, Nov. 12 (In-Service Day). Thanksgiving Break will be held Thursday, Nov. 28, through Monday, Dec. 2.

An In-Service Day will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, and Winter Break will be Tuesday, Dec. 24, through Wednesday, Jan. 1. Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be offered for Grades K-8 on Monday, March 30 (In-Service Day).

Spring Break will be held Friday, April 10, through Monday, April 13. (Note: Monday, April 13, is “built in” as a third Snow Day; therefore, if the there are three or more school closures because of inclement weather, school will be in session on that day.)

Mars Area High School’s Senior Prom is scheduled on Friday, May 8 (Act 80 Day). The Class of 2020 graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 12.

The Last Day of School with zero snow days will be Wednesday, June 10. (Snow Days will be made up in the following order: June 11, June 12, April 13, June 15 and June 16.)
