Mars Area School Board voted 8-0 to adopt Mars Area School District’s 2018-2019 School Calendar.

Note: Board member Bonnie Weaver was absent.

The calendar sets the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 29. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held for Grades K-12 on Thursday, Nov. 8 (Act 80 Day) and for Grades K-6 on Friday, Nov. 9 (In-Service Day).

Thanksgiving Break will be held Thursday, Nov. 22, through Monday, Nov. 26. Winter Break for students will begin with a Two-Hour Early Dismissal on Friday, Dec. 21, then continue from Monday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be offered for Grades K-8 on Monday, March 25 (In-Service Day). Spring Break will be held from Friday, April 19, through Monday, April 22.

Mars Area High School’s Senior Prom is scheduled on Friday, May 10, (Act 80 Day), and the Class of 2019 graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 6.The Last Day of School with zero snow days will be on Friday, May 31. (Snow Days will be made up on June 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.)

Note: An Act 80 Day was incorrectly listed on the approved District calendar on Friday, May 3. The correct date of the Act 80 Day will be Friday, May 10, the same day as the Senior Prom. The amended calendar (displayed below) will be voted on by the Board at a March meeting.
