The Mars Area High School Fightin’ Planets have earned the title of Best High School Mascot in America as the winner of the 2026 National High School Mascot Brackets competition.
The Fightin’ Planets popped the Boiling Springs Bubblers (Pa.) in the Championship Final, amassing a final total of 899,296 official votes to our opponent’s 575,259.
“A huge thank you to our amazing students, staff, and community for your incredible support and school spirit—together,” says Dr. Mark Gross, superintendent. “You helped our mascot be recognized as the best in the country!”
The Planets speared the Willingboro Chimeras (N.J.) in the Final Four; locked in a win against the Yuma Criminals (Ariz.) in the Elite 8; bested the Bonanza Antlers (Ore.) in the Sweet 16; smashed the Johnson Atom Smashers (Ga.) in the second round; and plaided the Poca Dots (W.Va.) in the first round.
