School Board Reorganizes for 2026

 Mars Area School Board has reorganized for 2026.

The Board re-elected John Kennedy as Board President and Kevin Hagen as Board Vice President.

The Board also welcomed three (3) new members:

  • Michael Bordt — Bordt is Mars Area High School graduate (Class of 2008) as well as a lifelong Mars resident. He serves as an Adams Township Police officer
  • Joe Joswiak — Joswiak is a retired Mars Area Middle School health & physical education teacher and owner of Camp Trees Landscaping. He is an Adams Township resident
  • Madelynn Marburger Barkley — Marburger Barkley is a Mars Area High School graduate (Class of 2007) and an Adams Township resident. She is employed as a senior manager of state tax compliance and reporting, 

Other Board members include Anthony DePretis, Jennifer DiCuccio, Justin Miller and Aaron Rose.

The Board appointed Jennifer DiCuccio and Madelynn Marburger Barkley to serve on the Mars Planet Foundation Board of Directors; and Justin Miller to serve on the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School Authority Board with Anthony DePretis as an alternate.

In addition, the Board set its 2026 meeting dates. Work sessions and regular meetings will continue to be held at 7 p.m. on the first and second Tuesday of each month, respectively, with a few exceptions: Jan. 7 (Wednesday) and 13; Feb. 3 and 10; March 3 and 10; April 8 (Wednesday) and 14; May 5 and 12; June 2 and 9; July 28; Aug. 11 and 18; Sept. 1 and 9 (Wednesday); Oct. 6 and 13; Nov. 4 (Wednesday) and 10; and Dec. 8. Board Finance Meetings are scheduled at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 3, March 10 and April 14. All meetings are open to the public and are typically held in the boardroom at the District’s Administration Office (545 Route 228, Mars).
