Throughout the summer, several Mars Area School District campus entrances and access roads will be closed to traffic.
- Mars Area Middle School — PennDOT has temporarily closed the Mars Area Middle School entrance along Route 228 in order to complete paving work as part of the Route 228/Three Degree Road Intersection Project. In addition, PennDOT has permanently closed the Middle School’s southern entrance along Three Degree Road to accommodate the widening of the roadway, which will take place in the coming weeks. Access to the school will remain available via Mars Area Middle School’s main driveway along Davidson Road.
- Mars Area High School — The gates at the entrances to Mars Area High School along Route 228 and Three Degree Road will remained closed to eliminate cut-through traffic, which has, once again, significantly increased with the continuation of road construction at the intersection of the roadways. The western entrance to the school remains closed due to road construction; therefore, all access to the school will be via Three Degree Road and the Milky Way access road at the rear of the building. Please note that, when road construction moves to the southern portion of Three Degree Road, the District will provide an update on how best to access the school.
- Doc’s Way — The Doc’s Way access road is temporarily closed between LEFCON Field and the Mars Area Elementary School parking lot. Access to the school remains available via Brickyard Road.
- Officer Edward Brooks Drive — PennDOT has temporarily closed Officer Edward Brooks Drive at its intersection with Route 228 in order to complete paving work as part of the Route 228/Three Degree Road Intersection Project. Access to the Mars Area Centennial School campus and the Softball Fields remain available via Davidson Road and Meredith Drive.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation with these temporary changes. Thank you.
Sincerely,
MASD Administration
