Mars Area School District will hold its 2024 Homecoming Celebration, Monday, Oct. 7, through Saturday, Oct. 12.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “On Cloud 9.” The District’s schools will hold the following Spirit Week theme days:
- Monday, Oct 7 — “PJ Day” — Comfy clothes or pajamas
- Tuesday, Oct. 8 —
- High School — “Nursery vs. Nursing Home” — Students may dress like a baby or an elderly person
- Grades K-8 — “Sports Team /Jersey Day” — Sports apparel
- Wednesday, Oct. 9 —
- High School — “Pink Day” — Pink colors
- Middle School — “Movie Day” — Movie-themed apparel
- Grades K-6 — “#bethekindkid Day”
- Thursday, Oct. 10 —
- High School & Grades K-6 — “Holidays Day” — Apparel associated with any holiday
- Middle School — “Class Color Day” — Seventh-graders wear black and eighth-graders wear red
- Friday, Oct. 11 — “Mars Day” — Blue and gold colors
The 2024 Homecoming Parade will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, in Downtown Mars, followed by the Fightin’ Planets Homecoming Football Game against the McKeesport Area Tigers at 7 p.m. at Mars Athletic Complex.
The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Homecoming Queen candidates are Jamie Compton, Morgan Duker, Ava Herbolich, Alyssa Hipsky, Ellie Koma, Elianna Maher, Susanna Tomkovicz and Bella Yoshioka.
The week will conclude with Mars Area High School’s 2024 Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Mars Area Middle School.
The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance. Candidates for Homecoming King are Logan Becker, Sean Brennan, Ian Coulter, Luke Goodworth, Liam Hein, Eric Kasperowicz, Kyle Kochanski and Maxwell Zagorski. Honorary court members are exchange students Alexander Demmel (Germany) and Lasse Evels (Germany).
DANCE TICKET SALES - Dance tickets are $20 per student and may be purchased, Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 11, at the Student Council booth at Mars Area High School. A completed Ticket Order Form (available at https://4.files.edl.io/9112/09/10/24/142136-72a6dbfd-c157-4e60-ba95-57ad136e110e.pdf) and payment is due at the time of ticket purchase. Checks may be made payable to “Mars High Activity Fund.”
