With the recent changes in the way that parents/guardians will access Mars Area Primary Center and Mars Area Elementary School via Route 228 and with the reconfiguration of the Primary Center parking lot, Mars Area School District has established new afternoon pick-up procedures for Mars Area Elementary School and Mars Area Primary Center.
Note: A.M. Drop-Off Procedures are not affected and will remain the same. The following procedures are for P.M. Pick-Up ONLY.
Mars Area Primary Center
All parents/guardians, who are picking up students at Mars Area Primary Center, must enter via Brickyard Road. All vehicles must then turn left at the Administration Office parking lot and join the queue for pick-up at the school’s Cafeteria Entrance at the rear of the building. (Note: During afternoon dismissal, no traffic entering the campus will be permitted to continue straight on Brickyard Road past the Administration Office to the Primary Center’s parking lot.) Upon picking up your child(ren) parents/guardians may then exit via Brickyard Road or Doc’s Way or proceed to Mars Area Elementary School to join the queue for pick-up at that building.
Mars Area Elementary School
Parents/guardians, who are picking up students at Mars Area Elementary School, must enter via Brickyard Road, pass through the Administration Office parking lot, and follow the access road to the Elementary School. Similarly to last year’s pick-up procedures, vehicles will then be directed to line up in front of the building; however, they will be facing in the opposite direction. Upon picking up your child(ren) parents/guardians may then exit via Doc’s Way or circle around Mars Area Primary Center back to Brickyard Road.
Note: During afternoon dismissal, only school buses will be permitted to enter the campuses via Doc’s Way at Three Degree Road. However, as noted above, vehicle may exit the campuses via the roadway.
These changes are in place to alleviate safety concerns regarding traffic at Mars Area Elementary School and Mars Area Primary Center, especially given the realignment of access to the schools’ campuses via Route 228.
School personnel will be on hand to direct traffic during afternoon pick-up. In addition, to further ease additional traffic concerns, we ask that parents/guardians please arrive for afternoon pick-up no earlier than 2:30 p.m.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience as we are continually working to enhance traffic safety at all of our school buildings.
