District Anticipating Additional Traffic Congestion

Mars Area School District has been notified that the utility relocation work occurring along Route 228 in front of and around Mars Area High School is expected to continue into tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 16).

As the lane restrictions associated with this construction, compounded by the reported gas leak along Brickyard Road, resulted in much of the traffic congestion experienced by our school community earlier today (Wednesday, Nov. 15), the District is anticipating additional traffic delays along Route 228 tomorrow as well.

All parents/guardians are asked to be aware that some school buses may be delayed in arriving at students' morning bus stops on Thursday, Nov. 16(Note: If a school bus is running more than 15-20 minutes late, please contact A.J Myers & Sons bus garage at 724-625-2032, so that they may contact the bus driver directly. Any specific questions or concerns may be directed to the District’s Transportation Office at [email protected].) In addition, parents/guardians, who drive your children to school, are encouraged to plan accordingly and use caution when traveling to and from our school buildings.

The District appreciates your patience and cooperation as we continue to work closely with municipal and state transportation officials to address specific traffic issues in an attempt to minimize delays, wherever possible.
