Parents Sought for Gifted, Special Education Committees

Mars Area School District’s Office of Special Education & Gifted Education is seeking parents/guardians interested in serving on separate Special Education and Gifted Education Parent Advisory Committees.

The purpose of the committees is to inform parents/guardians about gifted education and special education issues; provide trainings for parents/guardians; improve communication between administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, service providers and community agencies; identify and address systemic issues that impact the delivery services; and, to maintain and improve the delivery of best and evidence-based education practices and programs throughout the District.

Each member of the selected Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) will be responsible for attending quarterly meetings; organizing trainings for parents; providing input to the School District; and, advocating for all students within Mars Area School District. Completed applications should be returned to Dr. Travis W. Mineard, Director of Special Education; Mars Area School District; 545 Route 228; Mars, Pa. 16046, by no later than Friday, Sept. 12.  The District is seeking at least two (2) parent/guardian representatives for each school buildings.
