Mars Area School District’s Office of Special Education is seeking parents/guardians interested in serving on the District’s Gifted Education Parent Advisory Committee.

 The purpose of the committee is to inform parents/guardians about gifted education issues; provide trainings for parents/guardians; improve communication between administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, service providers and community agencies; identify and address potential systemic issues that may impact the delivery of gifted education and special education services; and, to maintain and improve the delivery of best and evidence-based education practices and programs throughout the District.

Each member of the selected Parent Advisory Committee will be responsible for attending quarterly meetings; organizing trainings for parents; providing input to the School District; and, advocating for ALL students within Mars Area School District.

An application is available on Mars Area School District’s website, www.marsk12.org. Completed applications should be returned to Travis W. Mineard, Director of Special Education; Mars Area School District; 545 Route 228; Mars, Pa. 16046; by no later than Friday, March 6.
