On April 20, Mars Area School Board formally appointed Smith to the position to replace Jane Roth, who is retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 School Year.
Smith previously served as Terminal Manager at ABC Transit (Pittsburgh); Dispatch Operations Supervisor at North Allegheny School District; Operations Supervisor Dispatcher at First Student (Pittsburgh); a School Bus Driver at First Student (Penn Trafford); and a Dispatcher at Allegheny County Emergency Services. A resident of Baden, Smith is also a certified school bus trainer.
