Mars Area Middle School will hold a “Trout Release Day” activity at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 15, at boat ramp at Glade Run Lake (Valencia, Pa.).
Students and teachers will release brook trout, which were raised from eggs to fingerlings in a classroom aquarium as part of the school’s “Trout in the Classroom” cold water conservation education program.
The program, provided through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited and Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, incorporates the subjects of ecology, environmental science, chemistry and mathematics and makes connections with other areas of the curriculum.
