Pre-Employment Requirements

CLEARANCES - Employment within Mars Area School District requires background clearances as regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The following clearances are required for employment:
DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING - Mars Area School District Policy 351.1 Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing requires that prospective employees submit to drug & alcohol testing to, as stated in the policy, ensure that (a) employees are qualified to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position that they are hired to perform, and (b) new employees do not present a threat to the safety and well-being of those with whom they will come into contact. More information regarding drug and alcohol testing will be provided to any candidates being considered for a position


General Information

  • Full-Time Teaching Position — Starting salary for Full-Time Teaching Position for the 2023-2024 School Year is $49,367 (Step 1/Bachelors Degree) as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and Mars Area Education Association.
  • Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Position — Long-Term Substitute Teachers are paid at 90 percent of the Step 1 Bachelors salary, pro-rated.
  • Day-to-Day Substitute Nurses — Substitute nurses must have both registered nurse and school nurse certifications.
