parents were members teachers Administration and honored guests good evening I'm Doctor West Shipley super Mars area school district is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mars Area High School 109th annual commencement please rise for the playing of our national anthem please join me in welcoming the Mars Area High School graduating class of 2018 please be seated good evening come to the commencement of the Mars area class 2018 my name is Daniel O'Connell and I'm the president of the senior class graduation is an end of an era after all the Moorings of waking up 6:30 and questioning the importance of getting out of bed for yet another Spanish test I do not question the importance of Simply living in the moment and not taking life for granted I know not everyone will miss going to high school but it's not about missing high school it's about remembering the memories the friends that you made an activity that you loved senior year was the last chance to go and have some fun with the people we grew up with without really worrying about what could go wrong in high school if you fail a test the worst thing that happens is difela test in the real world there is no safety on Ice going to be the last chance to go to home football games play in the orchestra play in the band sing in the choir with the people that you've grown up around your last chance to put the sport that you can playing since the third grade with your best friends your last art show your last club meeting your last chance to see a favorite teacher all the memories that you have of high school are now finished what you have is what you have however it's also good thing that the high school number is now over because as of now everything that you do is a new experience that your first chance to be the person you want to be not the person who your teachers parents and Friends expect you to be you can strive for what actually matters to you and all other people tell you is important once we get into the real world we do not have to finish the mold people have placed us in once we get into the real world we can find a person we're supposed to marry or someone you love or new friends weather is going to college or entering the workforce the next step is a new opportunity to fight do you really want to be there is nothing holding you back two days ago we had to ask to go to the bathroom for the last time in our lives now there isn't even anyone to ask even though I mentioned all the amazing things that will not leave high school with us what is the cherish those memories in at the same time Focus all the exciting new experiences and memories that are ahead of you the keys you enjoy what you do why you're doing it so you don't ever look back and regret not making the most of your life so remember the good times of high school but look forward to the Amazing Adventures and memories you still have yet to make live in the moment and die anything for granted thank you man this microphone was just a little bit higher than I imagined or medium to short good evening family friends faculty staff and fellow classmates my name is a pint class of 2018 1380 days ago hard journey through high school started for the first time as we anxiously waited to enter the school Halls Summerfest was scared scared of meeting new people scared of adjusting to a new school scared to take on the social and educational challenge known as High School honestly I was scared of having to teach everyone how to pronounce my name by now most people in the school have gotten the pronunciation right well most of you apparently today I'm supposed to let you all know how to live perfect successful happy lives in text you and a half minutes but I'm 16 I can't even drive yet all things considered I'm probably not the best person to advice on living life instead like my Mandrake I'd rather tell you how I really feel about Mars from the very first day I Came To Mars so many if you approach me wanting to be friends I wish I and terrified to be moving but slowly and surely you wore down my shower and taught me to be more outgoing and friendly and I'm really glad that you all did I hope you will continue being the same amazing friendly people for the rest of your lives that I know you to be because that is what I love about Mars the wise words of Senor no Toda ring true about our community this place is it really is but I mean you guys are psycho in the good way and the loving and endearing way just psychosis will let you do things no one else can today on each of you have the potential to do amazing things with your lives and I know that you will whether that be and racking up some fortnite subs becoming a master Tradesman finding the cure to cancer or becoming That Celebrity the rest in 20 years can say we knew from high school most importantly though I want you to remember that the best part of each and every one of you is your kindness and it is the quality that I hope will design your future I want to end with a quote from John Gardner all great literature is one of two stories a person goes on a journey or a Stranger Comes To Town our lives are no different each of us at some point came to Mars has strangers now we're all leaving on our own journey through life has you look to your left and if you worked here right today you will see the men and women who will shape your future today they are your classmates tomorrow and perhaps for the rest of your lives it will be your closest friends your leaders your future business partners your roommates your hype man your family class of 2018 even as everything else Fades away the habits the lessons the rules always cherish the memories best West High School congratulations class of 2018 no longer will we be young dumb broke high school kids were graduating goody my name is Nathan Walker and today on the 7th of June my fellow classmates and I await one of the biggest changes of our lives in less than an hour we all will be high school graduates getting new stages of our Journeys in life up to this point our entire lives have been planned and organized around Mars even though I only move to Mars in 8th grade Mars has become a constant my life at the end of every summer I knew that I would be returning to Mars and have the opportunity to see all my friends and teachers again almost every day throughout each and every one of our Journeys at Mars create a new memories in forms new relationships that have impacted our lives however as time drags us on into new stages of Our Lives all good things must come to an end or do they even though your time at Mars is coming to a close this does not mean that your high school experience has to be erased from your existence obviously you will not be able to come to school every weekday to see all your friends teachers with ease but you will still have that your memories and friendships of your time spent with these individuals to carry along with you to your next destination in life what are your plans take you to entire opposite side of the country or simply nearby close to home your friendships and memories will most likely be the things from high school that you remember will you really remember your high school experience as Hound Advanced or AP classes Utah or specific grammar Concepts you learned or overly complicated math problems that you had to solve instead I hope you all remember moments spent laughing with your friends and your teachers or playing your final match with your team-mates or maybe the entire class breaking the escalator at PPG at last as high school students we truly get to select how to remember this long no longer must we be constrained to the looming impact of our high school transcripts and GPA no longer must be bound by The Common Core Curriculum of Reading Writing and arithmetic we now have the power choose which memories and friendships from high-school to take along with us into the next chapter of Our Lives be on Mars thank you and congratulations class of 2018 I wish you all happiness continue friendships and success in the next chapter of your lives hi there are so many thank yous that need to be expressed at this time thank you to the administration faculty and staff for the opportunities we have been afforded throughout our academic careers thank you to our families the good times in the lasting memories thank you to our parents and families for their support and their understanding and their love Mrs rosswog I proudly present to you the Morris area high school class 2018 good evening as principal of Mars area high school I accept this class and state to dr. West Shipley superintendent of the Mars Area School District that the class of 2018 has completed all requirements for graduation good evening parents teachers administrators board members friends and class of 2018 what is a Bittersweet event for everyone students at your opportunity to step away from one last phase of your life and Bully step into the next for some of you that may happen sooner rather than later maybe happening pretty immediately as you might enter the job or the military or start of summer session for college classes right away time moves all too quickly and I'm sure your families have fun memories of you entering school as a kindergartner.
