PDE Bureau of Special Education Surveys

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Bureau of Special Education (BSE), monitors all school districts and charter schools in the state at least once every six years to ensure that they are complying with federal and state regulations for special education.  As part of this monitoring, the BSE is seeking parent/guardian opinions about the special education services being provided at Mars Area School District. In addition to surveying parents/student, BSE is also interested in hearing directly from students about their educational experience. If your child is age 14 or older, he/she will be invited to complete a student survey. Participation in all surveys is voluntary and all responses are anonymous. The surveys are available at the following links:

Parent/Guardian Survey — http://apps.leaderservices.com/ParentSurvey
Student Survey — http://apps.leaderservices.com/StudentSurvey

Each survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. (Note: Any parents/guardians or students, who do not have access to the Internet or to a computer, may ask to use a School District computer to complete the survey.) All survey responses must be submitted by no later than Friday, Feb. 2, 2024.

An outside agency will tabulate the results and provide the School District and the BSE with a report of how parents/guardians and students responded to the questions on an overall basis. The results will assist the BSE in planning with your school district/charter school for future training and improvement activities.

Any questions or concerns may be directed to the District’s Special Education Department at (724) 625-1518 or the PDE Special Education ConsultLine at (800) 879-2301. For more information, click on the following:
