World Languages

Welcome to World Languages...

We invite you to browse this information page and the entire Department to learn how the District is providing an array of opportunities to students of French, German, Spanish and Mandarin. The study of a world language, literature and culture traditionally has been a central component of a quality education and it opens doors professionally, academically and personally. With economic globalization, our connections with countries and cultures around the world have become much closer. We have aligned our curricula to expand the outlook and interests of our students to become educated citizen and to cultivate tolerance and understanding.

Our program, following the standards of the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), fosters communication, critical and creative thinking and an outside-the-classroom global perspective. These are invaluable to careers in business, law, education, medicine, government, the arts and social sciences. With that in mind our course offerings at each level are rigorous and varied. Our faculty provides viewpoints and approaches on language and culture, foster awareness of cultural diversity, facilitate engagement with cultures and create opportunities for communication across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
