Here you will find the specific grade-level curriculums for students in Grades 5-6 along with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and the PA CORE Standards. All academic instruction, in the Mars Area Centennial School, is guided by these standards. To assist you in your understanding, the standards have been defined below.

Pennsylvania Academic Standards

The Pennsylvania Academic Standards provide all schools across the Commonwealth a foundation upon which to build locally designed elementary curriculum in the academic content areas of English Language Arts (which includes Reading), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, Art, Music, and Library Science.

PA CORE Standards

As part of the new Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations, passed March 1, 2014, Pennsylvania’s Core Standards offer a set of rigorous, high-quality academic expectations in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics that all students are expected to master by the end of each grade level. The PA Core Standards are robust and relevant to the real world and reflect the knowledge and skills our students need to succeed. The rigorous PA Core Standards of ELA and Mathematics are embedded throughout the academic curricular expectations of Science and Social Studies.
