Pre-Employment Requirements

CLEARANCES - Employment within Mars Area School District requires background clearances as regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The following clearances are required for employment:

 

DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING - Mars Area School District Policy 351.1 Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing requires that prospective employees submit to drug & alcohol testing to, as stated in the policy, ensure that (a) employees are qualified to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position that they are hired to perform, and (b) new employees do not present a threat to the safety and well-being of those with whom they will come into contact. More information regarding drug and alcohol testing will be provided to any candidates being considered for a position

General Information

Support Positions:

  • Custodians — Starting pay rate is $13/hours per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023). Single health benefits offered.
 
  • Maintenance — Starting pay rate is $13.75/hour (Level One) or $16/hour (Level Two)  as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023). Single health benefits offered.
 
  • Nurse Paraprofessionals* — Starting pay rate is $16/hour as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023).Single health benefits offered.
 
  • Paraprofessionals* — Starting pay rate is $13.75/hour as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023).Single health benefits offered.

  • Secretaries* — Starting pay rate is $13.75/hour as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023). Single health benefits offered. Typing and computer skills (Word, Excel) required. 
 
 
Substitute Support Positions:
  • ALL SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS — The starting salary rate is $12/hour for day-to-day substitute secretarial and substitute custodial positions, unless otherwise noted, as per the agreement between the Mars Area School District and the Mars Area Education Support Professionals, PSEA/NEA (2020-2023).

Paraprofessionals (Union Positions):
  • Nurse Paraprofessional - Full-time position. Single health benefits offered. Must have active LPN or RN certificate.   • Paraprofessional - Several full-time position available:

    • High School - five (5) positions
    • Middle School - two (2) positions
    • Centennial School - one (1) positions

Secretarial (Union Positions):
  • Guidance Secretary (High School) - Full-time position (260 days per school year) Requirements:
    • High school diploma required.
    • Advanced secretarial and computer skills, including a working knowledge of various applications.
    • Knowledge of operating computers, and specific software programs relative to school operation.
    • Previous secretarial experience, preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-task environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with students, parents and personnel from various schools and agencies.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Maintain good rapport with co-workers and community.
    • Maintain confidentiality of District and school business.

Maintenance (Union Positions):
  • Level 1 Maintenance - Full-time position. 8-hour shift (shift times may be adjusted to accommodate District functions, as needed). $13.75/hr. Single health benefits offered. Must have experience in athletic field set up, minor repairs, outdoor maintenance (plowing, mowing, landscaping, etc.).   • Level 2 Maintenance - Two (2) full-time positions available. 8-hour shift (shift times may be adjusted to accommodate District functions, as needed). $13.75/hr. Single health benefits offered. Must have experience in general building construction, framing, drywall and roofing; general plumbing, general HVAC; mowing, and winter maintenance (plowing, shoveling and salting affected areas). Custodial (Union Positions):
