Gifted Parent Advisory Committee

Mars Area School District has established a Gifted Parent Advisory Committee, comprised of two (2) gifted parents from each school buildings as well as two (2) gifted teachers, a school psychologist and Travis Mineard, Director of Special Education. 


Vision

The vision of the Gifted Parent Advisory Committee is to promote and advocate for an exemplary gifted program at all levels (in accordance with Chapter 16 regulations) providing a learning environment, in which divergent strengths and higher level thinking skills are enriched through collaboration, systemic problem-solving and communication so that students reach their fullest potential.


Goals

  • To develop programs to challenge and prepare gifted students to become lifelong scholars and contributing responsible citizens
  • Provide enrichment, acceleration, direction, time, encouragement,and a broad spectrum of resources to gifted students
  • Maximize educational opportunities for gifted students
  • Encourage gifted students to develop self-discipline and independent learning skills to assist them in reaching their fullest potential
  • Create a supportive, respectful, and creative learning environment focusing on the students’ strengths
