Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) Mask Mandate for School Buses
As per a Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) mandate, face masks are required for all students and drivers on school buses.
Earlier this school year, Mars Area School District had communicated that face coverings (masks or shields) could be worn on the school bus. However, current CDC guidelines state that students and drivers must wear a face mask that completely covers their mouth and nose while on the school bus. Face shields, unfortunately, do not meet this requirement. We apologize for any confusion regarding our District’s previous communication regarding this information.
Our District recognizes that wearing a face covering in school or on the school bus may be difficult for some students. If your child meets the criteria for exemption from wearing a face covering under the DOH order, we ask that you please contact your child’s building principal as soon as possible, so that the appropriate documentation may be reviewed for consideration. Accommodations for students with medical exemptions will be made in partnership with the student’s health care provider and professional school staff, including the school nurse.
