Mars Area Middle School Student Council/Government will hold a student information meeting during Homeroom on Tuesday, Sept. 7, in The Commons.

Any 7th and 8th grade student interested in running for an elected position are encouraged to attend this informational meeting.  Students that are unable to attend this meeting can also stop in Mrs. Winter’s classroom (room 123) to receive an information packet about the following elected positions:

• 8th Grade Class President
• 8th Grade Vice President
• 8th Grade Homeroom Representatives (2 elected positions for each homeroom)
• 7th Grade Class President
• 7th Grade Vice President
• 7th Grade Homeroom Representatives (2 elected positions for each homeroom)

Class President and Vice President elections will be held on Friday, Sept. 24.  All interested candidates must complete an eligibility form and a speech outline by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15.  Candidates will give their speech during the morning news broadcast on Wednesday, Sept. 22, and Thursday, Sept. 23.  Voting will take place in homeroom on Friday, Sept. 24.

Homeroom Representatives elections will be held by each homeroom teacher, Monday through Wednesday Sept. 27-29. Students interested in running for a Homeroom Representative position or nominating a candidate will sign-up with their homeroom teacher.  Each homeroom teacher will hold a nomination and election session to fill the Homeroom Representative positions.
