The returning PIAA champion Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team will take on the Red Land Patriots in the first round of the 2021 PIAA Class 3A Girls Soccer Championship 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Mars Athletic Complex.
The Lady Planets became the first girls soccer team in any classification to win the WPIAL Title in three consecutive years, with the team’s 2-1 defeat of the Plum Mustangs in the final game of the 2021 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Soccer Championship on Nov. 6.
The team conquered the Montour Spartans 1-0 in the WPIAL semifinals on Nov. 2; grounded the Oakland Catholic Eagles 6-0 in the quarterfinals on Oct. 28; and stopped the Penn Hills Indians 7-0 in the first round on Oct. 25. The Planets ended the 2021 regular season undefeated with an overall record of 12-0-1 and went undefeated (12-0) in section play, earning the Section 4-3A title.
