Visitor Procedures

Access to Mars Area School District buildings is restricted to visitors during the school day, in accordance with District Policy 907 School Visitors. Those wishing to gain entrance are required to be given access by office personnel. Please note that all school entrances and numerous locations in building are under video surveillance.

Visitors to Mars Area High School must press the buzzer at the main entrance of the buildings to request admittance; are required to pass through metal detectors; and may be subject to search. Visitors to Mars Area Middle School, Mars Area Centennial School, Mars Area Elementary School, Mars Area Primary Center and Mars Area School District Administration Office must press the buzzer at the main entrance to request admittance.

All Visitors Required to Provide Valid Identification

RAPTORMars Area School District has implemented the Raptor Visitor Management System at all of the District’s school buildings to further ensure the safety and security of all students, faculty and staff members.

Upon entering a District building, all visitors will be asked to present identification, such as a valid Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the Raptor system. If, for any reason, a visitor does not have a Driver’s License, a staff member may accept any other valid form of identification and may then manually enter the person’s name into the system.

The Raptor system checks the visitor’s name and date of birth against a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data from the provided ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.

Once entry is approved, the Raptor system prints a badge that identifies the visitor by his/her name and photo; the date; and the purpose of the visit. A visitor’s badge is not needed for those who visit a school simply to pick up or drop off a student, drop off an item in the office or to pick up paperwork.

Mars Area School District appreciates the cooperation of all parents/guardians and other visitors as the District continues to strive to remain proactive in the protection of our students, faculty and staff members.

For more information, contact the individual school building.
