The total tops the previous Butler County record of 179 wins, held by former Butler Area coach Art Bernardi. Heinauer, who is in his 30th year as the District’s athletic director and in his 27th year as head football coach, has led the Fightin’ Planets to nine section titles and to the WPIAL playoffs in 19 out of 26 seasons.
A six-time Coach of the Year, Heinauer is a 2017 Butler County Sports Hall of Fame inductee; a 2016 Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) Hall of Fame inductee; and was named 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association (PSADA) Pennsylvania Athletic Director of the Year. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Board of Control, Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (WPIAL) and PSADA Delegate Assembly.
